What are my options?

CPAP
Upper Airway Stimulation
Oral Appliance Therapy

CPAP

A CPAP machine treats sleep apnea by delivering a continuous stream of air to create positive pressure in your airway and keep it open throughout the night so you can continue to breathe. The bedside CPAP machine is connected by a tube to a mask you wear at night.

Oral Appliance Therapy

Oral appliances for sleep apnea or mandibular advancement devices (MAD) fit over your teeth and work by repositioning your lower jaw to open the airway while you sleep.

Upper Airway Stimulation

Upper airway nerve stimulation works by activating the muscle response in your tongue and upper airway. The stimulation causes the muscles to contract and the airway to remain open.

After trying and hating CPAP, my doctor referred me to a dentist who made a custom oral appliance for me. It was much more comfortable and easy to get used to. I wear it almost every night and I've been sleeping much better.

I've been using my CPAP for 2 years now. It took me a long while to get used to it, but now I can't sleep without it.
